Abundance of Barrels Holiday Food Drive

This holiday season our hearts were full, as we worked to fill the tummies of thousands of local community members through our Abundance of Barrels food drive.

We turned this into a friendly competition where teams decorated barrels to entice others to fill them up, and potentially win some bragging rights for being so creative. For one month our teams collected non-perishables for local food pantries and families in need. We were blown away by the creativity that was displayed within our four categories, which included:

  • Most creative – Medford, NJ
  • Most Ivy spirit – Lumberton, NJ
  • Most patriotic – Mt. Laurel, NJ

  • Best theme – Bridgeton, NJ / Sparta, MI / Linden, MI

Teams were encouraged to offer internal incentives to fill their barrels, like our Hackettstown, NJ team who rocked their flannel to raise awareness of the food drive. If team members brought in two donations they could wear flannel, and with three item they could wear jeans. Every team member participated, the patients loved it, and their box was overflowing with donations! Great job, Hackettstown!

When all was said and done, our Winfield, IN team delivered 474 non-perishable food items to the Winfield Food Pantry. This was in-part due to an incredibly generous patient who brought in an entire cart full of groceries. That’s what we call embracing the giving spirit!

Our Rock Hill, SC team really showed up with generosity this holiday season! The team chose to work with Hope Project of Rock Hill which serves upwards of 800 families each month. It was such a gift to be able to provide in so many ways to the local community!

We’re forever grateful to each and every teammate and community member who contributed to our food drive this year. With everyone’s help we were able to donate thousands of items to food pantries and families in need, in each of our 235 communities. The generosity displayed showed that we are stronger together than we are alone – and for that, we’re thankful.
