Kaelan Henman, M.A., CCC-SLP, serves as the Clinic Director and Pediatric Speech Therapist at the kids’ facility in Dexter.
“I am very excited to have the opportunity to return to Washtenaw County and serve the Dexter community,” said Kaelan. “One of the biggest barriers to accessing pediatric therapy is the distance families often must travel. I look forward to making physical therapy, occupational, speech, and ABA therapy more accessible so children can thrive and their families can feel supported.”
Kaelan is passionate about his career and aims to provide the best, most functional, and culturally responsive therapy to every child and family that enters his treatment room. He believes that communication is a human right and strives to make it accessible to all children in the community.
Kaelan is PROMPT trained, is a Hanen-Certified SLP for the Hanen More Than Words program, and specializes in AAC and early childhood language development. He completed his education in Speech-Language Pathology at Eastern Michigan University and began serving the pediatric population of Southeast Michigan in 2018.

Ivy ABA – Autism Center
Shannon Schatz, M.S., BCBA, LBA, serves as the Clinic Director and Board-Certified Behavior Analyst at the ABA facility in Dexter.
“Dexter has held a special place in my heart since I was a little kid, so when I heard that Ivy was planning to expand its services there, I jumped at the opportunity to join the team,” shared Shannon. “As the area director for Howell, Hartland, Dewitt, Commerce and Brighton, I’m thrilled to add Dexter to that list. I’m eager to immerse myself in the community and raise awareness about the outstanding pediatric therapies we offer. I can’t wait to connect with families and caregivers in Dexter and make a positive impact in their lives.”
Shannon received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Western Michigan University in 2011. While enrolled in WMU’s Applied Behavior Analysis program in 2010, she completed her practicum providing ABA therapy at a preschool for children with severe autism. While enrolled in this practicum, she learned that autism and ABA was her passion. She witnessed firsthand the amazing things ABA therapy can do to help children with disabilities.
Shannon then received her Master’s of Science in Psychology with a concentration in Applied Behavior Analysis from Kaplan University in 2014. After working one-on-one with individuals with disabilities as a behavior technician for two years, Shannon was promoted to lead behavior technician and then moved up to managing an ABA clinic in Texas.
After participating in many roles in the ABA field, she decided she wanted to help children on a larger scale and became a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) in 2015. Her favorite parts of being a BCBA are working directly with the children, seeing their everyday progress, and hearing about their accomplishments in the community and at home.
When not at work, Shannon enjoys spending time with her husband and three kids. She also enjoys boating, camping, exercising, attempting to be crafty and reality TV.
