Clinical Spotlight: Amanda Teusch, Pediatric Residency Program Graduate

As someone who radiates positivity and expertise in their field, Amanda Teusch, was the perfect candidate for our inaugural Pediatric Residency Program. Having recently completed the program, she’s more equipped than ever to advance her career and allow her expertise to shine.

Amanda had always wanted to specialize in pediatrics but found that as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), there were limited opportunities to do so without completely going back to school. That is until she found Ivy’s Pediatric Occupational Therapy Residency Program, which provided her with an opportunity to specialize in pediatrics and experience mastery-level courses.

When asked how the residency program impacted her way of practicing, Amanda said, “I have grown more in the last year than I have in the past 10 years, as a therapist. My passion for therapy has been rekindled, and I now go into every session with an entirely new perspective. I am so much more confident in my skills as a therapist and as a coach for parents, caregivers, and children.”

Because of the way the residency program transformed Amanda’s approach to therapy, she highly recommends it to any clinician who has a passion for growth and professional development. “Not only will therapists gain certification in high-level courses, but they will also gain mentorship and develop relationships with a network of Ivy therapists across the country,” she said.

In addition, Amanda highlighted the importance of being part of the first cohort of a program that is going to make waves in the therapy community. Being able to connect with so many Ivy teammates who have become a part of her network have strengthened her from a professional standpoint and allowed our organization to grow by making valuable connections throughout the country.

“Amanda is an amazing COTA, and she often does not give herself enough credit. Her knowledge base that she brings to our team is tremendous,” said Nichole Coomer, Amanda’s Clinic Director. Nichole went on to praise Amanda for her willingness to take on challenging cases and her work in pediatric pelvic health. Nichole also mentioned that Amanda is working on opening a new clinic in Wabash, IN, which is impressive considering she has been carrying a full caseload, working full-time, and will graduate from Ivy’s LEAD program shortly after the residency ends.

Amanda Teusch is a shining example of what it means to be an excellent therapist and lifelong learner. Our team is proud to have her alongside us, and we can’t wait to see what other amazing accomplishments she achieves in the future. Congratulations, Amanda, on completing Ivy’s Pediatric Occupational Therapy Residency Program!
