Our Mission
The mission of the Ivy Rehab Oncology Residency Program is to foster the professional development of clinicians looking to specialize in the area of oncology rehabilitation. This program will develop these clinicians in the areas of communication, evaluation, treatment planning and problem-solving skills utilizing a comprehensive didactic curriculum based on current evidence and best practice guidelines.
Program Description
The Ivy Rehab Oncology Residency Program is a one-year, clinically based program focusing on the oncology patient’s unique aspects of comprehensive rehabilitation throughout the cancer journey: prehab, active medical management, survivorship, and the surveillance period. Residents learn how to create patient profiles, anticipate patient needs based on the medical management plan, and provide evidence-based interventions to manage the side effects of treatment and the direct impact of the disease process. A systems approach is emphasized for evaluation, collaborative treatment planning, and patient education, focusing on stabilizing and optimizing patient function. Mentorship, online educational modules, and weekend intensive in-person experiences supplement didactic study and virtual synchronous learning. Residents will earn certification as an Edema Specialist as a component of the program. Faculty and mentors include internal and outside Ivy Rehab experts, drawing specialists from around the country.
This program also includes completing a case study required for application for an oncology specialist examination by the ABPTS. Residents will be prepared for the ABPTS Board certification exam as an Oncology Specialist once the 2000 hours of required practice are completed.

Curriculum
The Ivy Rehab Oncology Residency Program provides a structured and robust didactic curriculum to enhance clinical reasoning and advance skills while incorporating the most recent evidence-based practices. This program utilizes a blended model of delivery for our didactic curriculum that includes online self-study modules, live online learning, virtual educational modules through educational partners, journal club and case review, independent study, and live in-person weekend courses that are to be completed throughout this comprehensive 12-month residency program.

| Active licensure in the current state of practice | Commitment to completing all of the program requirements |
| Employed as a full-time PT, PTA, OT, or COTA by Ivy Rehab Network at the time of the program start date. | Commitment to taking the Oncology Board examination (PT) or Advanced Proficiency examination as a PTA at earliest eligibility. There is not capstone board examination for occupational therapy professionals at this time |
